  • The New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA) is a state-level transmission authority in New Mexico. The main task is to promote the development of projects related to renewable energy sources. The main focus is the creation and development of power transmission networks and electricity storage facilities in New Mexico.

    The company is headquartered in Santa Fe, New Mexico. RETA was founded by New Mexico state lawmakers. In 2010, the New Mexico Renewable Energy Transmission Authority engaged the expertise of Los Alamos National Labs to evaluate and develop a 5.2-megawatt renewable energy transmission system in New Mexico. RETA is currently involved in the development of the Western Spirit Project, a 200-mile transmission network.
