Southern Company is an energy corporation in the United States, the nation's second-largest supplier of electricity and gas. Georgia Power is a subsidiary of Southern Company. Southern Company's subsidiaries also include Mississippi Power, Alabama Power, and other energy companies in various states in the southeast. Southern Company supplies electricity to more than 9 million residents in six states. Southern Company operates nearly all types of power plants, including renewable energy plants.

Through its subsidiaries, Southern Company supplies inexpensive, affordable and clean electricity to residents and businesses. The company provides about 27,000 miles of transmission network and 3,700 electrical substations. Southern Company invests billions of dollars in electric transmission infrastructure and provides uninterrupted power throughout the southeastern United States.
