Pioneer Electric Cooperative is an electric cooperative in Ohio, near the city of Dayton. Pioneer Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit, consumer-owned electric distribution utility. Since its inception, the cooperative's mission has been to provide Ohio residents with quality electricity at affordable prices.

Pioneer Electric Cooperative has invested heavily in Cardinal Power Plant, the cleanest coal-fired power plant in Brilliant, Ohio. Coal and gas-fired power plants are the backbone of electric generation. About 5% of electricity is from renewable sources.
